Godongwana to table medium-term budget on 26 October

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana will table South Africa’s 2022 Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) in Parliament in Cape Town on Wednesday, 26 October 2022 at 14h00.

This was confirmed by National Treasury in a short statement on Monday.

“The MTBPS sets government policy goals and priorities, forecasts macroeconomic trajectory and projects the fiscal framework over the next three years by outlining spending and revenue estimates, among others,” the Treasury noted.

This will be Godongwana’s third major budget-related speech since taking office as finance minister last year. He delivered the 2021 MTBPS speech in November and the main Budget 2022 speech in February.

Godongwana replaced former Finance Minister Tito Mboweni, following the latter’s resignation last year.
