Gross spending up 2.3% in third quarter

South Africa‘s real gross domestic expenditure expanded by 2.3% in the third quarter of 2018 after contracting by 0.7% in the second quarter, the statistics agency said on Tuesday.

Household expenditure increased by 1.6% in the third three months of the year after contracting by 1.1% in the previous three months.

Government expenditure was up 2.2% after growing by 0.8% in the previous quarter.

Gross fixed capital formation contracted by 5.1% from a 0.7% contraction previously.
