Net foreign reserves rose to $50.5bn in August

South Africa’s net foreign reserves rose to $50.515 billion in August from $48.114 billion in July, the Reserve Bank said on Monday.

Gross reserves fell, to $55.748 billion from $57.876 billion.

The forward position, which represents the central bank’s unsettled or swap transactions, rose to $3.761 billion from $1.529 billion, it said.
