Numsa, SACCA reject claims it damaged SAA’s reputation

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) and the South Africa Cabin Crew Association (SACCA) reject the statement issued by the Department of Public Enterprises where it states that, “the strike initiated by Numsa and SACCA caused immense damage to the reputation, operations and the deterioration of finances at South African Airways (SAA)”.

According to statement released on Tuesday by the unions, the comments are an opportunistic attempt to deflect attention away from the reality that the board and the senior management created this environment.

The statement reads in part “SAA should take full responsibility for forcing workers and the unions to embark on the strike.”
