Presidency receives SIU report on Digital Vibes

The Presidency has acknowledged receipt of the final report of the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) into the investigation of the R150 million contract between the National Department of Health and service provider, Digital Vibes.

This is the company linked to Health Minister, Doctor Zweli Mkhize, that was appointed to do digital communication related to COVID-19 information to the public.

Mkhize is implicated in the issuing of the contract to  Digital Vibes.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has placed  Mkhize on special leave.

However, the office of the President does not give much information on what is contained in the report by the SIU.

Acting Spokesperson for the President, Tyrone Seale, says the President is studying the report.

“The Presidency has received the final report of the Special Investigating Unit on an investigation into a contract between the National Department of Health and a service provider, Digital Vibes. The Presidency is studying the report and will keep the public abreast of developments in this matter. It will do so in a manner that preserves information that may be or become the subject of prosecution, civil action or disciplinary proceedings,” notes Seale in a statement on Tuesday.
