Ramaphosa delays appearance at graft inquiry

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa postponed a planned appearance at a commission of inquiry into state corruption next week.

Ramaphosa had been scheduled to give testimony before the panel headed by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo on May 31 and June 1. Ramaphosa delayed his appearance to a later date after a request from the commission, the presidency said in a statement sent by WhatsApp on Thursday.

“The president’s office is in communication with the commission to secure suitable alternative dates for his appearance,” it said.
