Retail sales down 1.4% year/year in December

South African retail sales fell 1.4% year-on-year in December after increasing at a revised year-on-year rate of 2.9% in November, the statistics office said on Wednesday.

On a month-on-month basis, sales fell 4.8% in December. Sales were up 1% in the three months to the end of December compared with the same period last year, Statistics South Africa said.
