Retail sales up 1.1% year/year in August

South African retail sales rose 1.1% year-on-year in August following a 2% increase in July, Statistics South Africa said on Wednesday.

On a month-on-month basis, sales were down 0.9% and up 1.8% in the three months to the end of August compared with the same period last year, the statistics body said.
