Retail sales up 1.9% y/y in May

South African retail sales rose 1.9% year-on-year in May after increasing by 0.5% in April, the statistics office said on Wednesday.

On a month-on-month basis, sales rose 1.1%. Sales rose 2.4% in the three months to the end of May compared with the same period last year, Statistics South Africa said.
