Retail sales up 2.5% y/y in August

Retail sales rose 2.5% year-on-year in August after increasing by a revised 1.4% in July, the statistics office said on Wednesday.

On a month-on-month basis, sales increased 0.6% from a 1.3% expansion previously. Sales were up 1.9% in the three months to the end of August compared with the same period last year, Statistics South Africa said.
