SA foreign direct investment inflows drop in Q2

South Africa recorded foreign direct investment inflows of R17.4 billion in the second quarter of 2020 compared to inflows of R29.0 billion in the first quarter, the central bank said on Tuesday.

Portfolio investments, reflecting a record of buying and selling of securities such as bonds and shares, registered outflows of R54.8 billion in the second quarter compared to outflows of R97.6 billion in the first quarter.
