Sarb cuts repo rate to 6.5%

The South African Reserve Bank cuts the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.50%, which means that the prime lending rate will drop to 10%.

This is the first interest rate cut after four meetings. 

The rand remains stable and is currently at R14.01 to the dollar.
