South African trade surplus widens in September    

South Africa’s trade surplus widened to R5.16 billion in September from a revised R4.54 billion surplus in August, data from the revenue service showed on Thursday.

Exports were down 7.8% on a month-on-month basis to R110.43 billion while imports fell 8.6% to R105.27 billion, the South African Revenue Service said.
