Stage 2 load shedding to resume on Tuesday morning

Stage two load shedding resumes on Tuesday morning at nine o’clock. Power utility, Eskom, has sought to assure consumers that load shedding is a last resort, and it’s doing all it can to keep the lights amid the cold winter conditions.

Eskom spokesperson, Sikhonathi Mantshantsha, has pleaded with people to try and conserve electricity.

“Eskom teams successfully returned to service unit two of the Koeberg power station which had been out of coal reserves since April. We went to the Majuba and Lethabo power stations. Even though these have helped to relieve the supply constraints, it’s not enough to enable Eskom to suspend load shedding. Therefore, load shedding will carry on.”
