Transnet hopes to re-open one closed coal export line on Saturday
South Africa’s Transnet hopes to re-open one of two closed coal export lines on Saturday after a train derailed on Thursday near the Richard’s Bay export terminal, the state-run freight company said.
A preliminary investigation into the cause of the derailment points to sabotage, after the railway line was cut in half by a blow torch, Transnet said in a statement without elaborating.
