Pam Golding under investigation for allegedly accepting proceeds of fraud

NEWSWATCH: The Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) is currently looking into allegations made against Pam Golding Properties that it contravened financial laws while facilitating the sale of properties worth a total of R50m to the children of former Mozambican president Armando Guebuza.

The allegations include that the company, in related transactions, accepted the proceeds of fraud. The properties in question are both in Johannesburg. The EAAB will probe the allegations, published in a Mail & Guardian report, together with the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).

“We take these allegations extremely seriously and have commissioned a full and independent external investigation,” said Bradd Bendall, general manager: real estate operations at Pam Golding Properties.

The company has yet to be notified of any formal investigation by the EAAB or FIC, he said, but “will co-operate fully”.

The group’s own investigation was “well under way”, said Bendall.
