First National Bank’s online banking website suffered unscheduled downtime on Tuesday, with frustrated customers taking to social media to complain about the outage.

Shortly after 1pm, TechCentral was unable to log onto the website using a computer. However, the bank’s smartphone app and mobile banking services appeared to be unaffected.

At about 12.30pm, the bank’s customer service team tweeted from the @RbJacobs account that the bank was “aware that customers are currently unable to access FNB Online Banking”.

“The Bank is working hard to resolve the issue and in the interim, customers can use our FNB App or any other banking channel as an alternative,” the account said.

Update: Services are now fully restored, FNB said in an e-mail to TechCentral shortly before 2pm. “FNB apologises to customers who were unable to use our online banking earlier this morning,” it said.  — (c) 2019 NewsCentral Media
