Metrofibre Networx launches an ISP, GigaGo: prices, details

Fibre infrastructure provider Metrofibre Networx is getting into the Internet service provision game.
The company, which is led by former Absa CEO Steve Booysen, said on Tuesday that it has launched an ISP called GigaGo.
Until now, Metrofibre has sold Internet access through its network of partner ISPs.
GigaGo offers a single price package across all network providers, depending on connection speed. Connections are uncapped and unshaped, Metrofibre said in a statement.
The ISP is offering access on the Metrofibre and Telkom Openserve networks for now, though it has promised it will “soon” be available on all major fibre networks nationwide.
According to GigaGo head Cornelius Jansen van Rensburg, it will offer customer support from 7am to 9pm on weekdays and from 7am to 5pm on weekends.
Pricing starts at R550/month for a 4Mbit/s connect. 10Mbit/s costs R699, 20Mbit/s is R899, 40Mbit/s is R1 099 and 100Mbit/s is R1 299. Fair-use policies apply. If a certain threshold is met, throttling applies. — (c) 2018 NewsCentral Media
