Retail sales up 1.2% year/year in January

South African retail sales rose 1.2% year on year in January after declining at a revised year-on-year rate of 1.6% in December, the statistics office said on Wednesday.

On a month-on-month basis, sales rose 1.5% in January. Sales were up 0.6% in the three months to the end of January compared with the same period last year, Statistics South Africa said.
