SA State Security Agency head Majola resigns
South African State Security Agency Director-General Thembisile Majola resigned, the presidency said.
Majola’s resignation, by mutual consent with President Cyril Ramaphosa, will be effective November 30, the presidency said in a statement on Wednesday. It didn’t provide reasons for her departure.
Ramaphosa appointed Majola in March 2022 to stabilize the country’s intelligence services. The appointment was part of a shake-up of the nation’s security forces following criticism of their handling of an outbreak of civil unrest in 2021.
