SA to regulate price increases linked to coronavirus – trade minister

South Africa‘s trade minister said on Thursday that goods sellers would not be allowed to raise prices by more than increases in the cost of inputs used to make them, in measures aiming to prevent profiteering from the coronavirus.

Ebrahim Patel was addressing journalists on actions to manage the fallout from the global pandemic, and prevent potential price shocks caused by panic-buying of basic goods.
