The ANC’s Makhubo is elected Johannesburg mayor

Municipal councilors in South Africa’s commercial capital elected Geoff Makhubo, a candidate of the nation’s ruling party, as mayor of Johannesburg.

Makhubo garnered 137 votes against 101 for the main opposition Democratic Alliance’s Funzela Ngobeni and 30 for the Economic Freedom Fighters’ Musa Novela, according to proceedings broadcast on news website News24.
