SAIBPP, UCT launch new property entrepreneurship programme

The South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners (SAIBPP), in partnership with the University of Cape Town (UCT), has launched a new property entrepreneurship programme aimed at first-time property entrepreneurs and aspiring property investors.

The programme will be led by South African property economist and professor in property economics François Viruly who will serve as head lecturer of the SAIBPP/ UCT Property Entrepreneurship Programme. Professor Viruly has undertaken extensive research into the South African property cycle, the development of township commercial properties, and the application of institutional economics to the analysis of property markets in emerging countries.

The course outline includes legal considerations, understanding cash-flows and property investment, property financing, understanding property development and property management, amongst other areas. Applicants will learn skills such as analysing the characteristics of commercial and residential property, understand how property differs from other types of investments and prepare property funding proposals.

This three-day face-to-face workshop format which, includes one week of self-study “… is the smartest, most affordable and accessible way for average South Africans to acquire the hands-on, high-quality skills they need to enter and practice in the property industry as investors and entrepreneurs. SAIBPP is committed to driving sustainable and inclusive economic growth and this course is just one of the many key skills development initiatives that we believe will truly start to change the face of the industry,” says SAIBPP CEO Vuyiswa Mutshekwane.

The programme will run Friday, 12 October, Saturday, 13 October and Saturday, 20 October 2018 at the FNB Conference & Learning Centre, in Sandton Johannesburg. For more info, click here.
