Ramaphosa says Eskom must not ‘be allowed to fail’

President Cyril Ramaphosa delivers second state of the nation address. See updates:

If Eskom defaults on its loans it will cause a cross-default on its remaining debt and have “huge impact” on already constrained fiscus. 

Government will take special appropriation bill allocating significant portion of R230 billion support for Eskom over next decade.

Ramaphosa says within next month minister of communications will issue policy directive to regulator Icasa to start spectrum licensing.
